Know more
PETG stands for Polyethylene Terephthalate modified with Glycol is a commonly used material used in 3D printing. Has good mechanical resistance, tenacity and with good temperature resistance which is ideal for mechanical parts and proofs of concept.
PETG has a glossy surface and has low warping and shrinkage during printing, however it has a tendency to produce strings during printing and poor results in bridging and overhangs, this makes PETG not suitable for printing with intricate and small details.Although PETG as a material is considered food safe the 3D printing process produces tiny print layer surface grooves that can support numerous bacterial colonies. At Varishapes we never recommend using 3D prints for direct food contact without any post process.

PETG carbon fiber

PETG

PETG reinforced with carbon fiber has improved mechanical properties with being more stiff, 10% more impact resistant and higher heat deflection (85ºC) when compared with normal PETG.It has a matte surface finish making the layer lines almost imperceptible.
