Carbon fiber PLA has embedded in the filament chopped carbon fibers that improve impact resistance but reduces stiffness and interlayer adhesion. The addition of carbon fibers also improves the appearance of the parts making the layer lines almost invisible with a mate surface finish.
Conductive PLA is a great choice for low-voltage circuitry applications, touch sensor projects, and using prints to interact with touch screens, which require low conductivity. Anything that can run through a 1K resistor should be doable with this material (if you design the conductors to be the right size). This will easily run a low current Arduino, if you are not powering much with it).
The mechanical properties of conductive PLA are very similar to the standard PLA.
Iron filled PLA has 45% iron encapsulated in the plastic, which provides a gray matte color and the following properties:
These characteristics make this material suitable for props and application where weight, magnetism or rusted look are necessary, however due to the incorporation of iron in the composition this PLA is more brittle than the standard PLA.
Igus® i150 and i151 are tribofilaments characterized by high wear resistance, as the material is enriched with solid lubricants. It is an all-rounder material that is suitable for applications with low or medium surface speeds (safe up to 0.2 m/s, test for higher speeds), medium loads and food contact due to the conformity according to EU 10/2011, therefore ideal in applications in the food and packaging industry. The main difference between i150 and i151 is i151 is blue color for optical detectability of machine vision. These characteristics come with the drawback of lower detail resolution of fine details during printing.
PETG reinforced with carbon fiber has improved mechanical properties with being more stiff, 10% more impact resistant and higher heat deflection (85ºC) when compared with normal PETG.It has a matte surface finish making the layer lines almost imperceptible.
